Who We Are

The Siôn Mullane Foundation (SMF) was set up in 2020 by Siôn’s partner, family and friends

I am a research analyst working in investments and Chair of the SMF. Siôn and I met in Barcelona on a trip he helped to organise at UCL, where we both studied Economics. We spent the next 7 years growing up together, supporting each other and having a lot of fun along the way. What inspired me about Siôn was his kindness and authenticity. He would go out of his way to help others and make them feel good about themselves. I saw how many people he made a positive impact on and the SMF will carry that on to others.

I am a professional rugby player representing Scarlets and Wales and a trustee of the SMF. Sport has always been a huge part of my life and it was on a rugby field that Siôn and I first met. A determined sportsman and a talented student, Siôn was always going places. He was the driving force behind our group of friends - convincing us of what we could do, taking pride in our achievements. Siôn had an appetite for fun, but more so to make sure everyone was involved in the fun that he was having. I am determined to live up to the example he set us all.

I am a Cardiff born and bred marketing professional and trustee for the foundation. I first met Siôn in high school and we remained close friends ever since. Siôn was the first to move to London, his infectious and limitless ambition inspired me to dream big and push myself. Siôn’s interest and care for people and their careers always inspired me. No matter who they were, Siôn was completely invested in what they did and how they could develop. With the SMF we hope to continue to inspire and enable young Welsh students to be ambitious and pursue their dreams.

I am a banker and trustee of the SMF. Siôn and I met working together in the City of London. His curiosity, free thinking attitude and desire for self-improvement made him stand out. As close friends, I am fortunate to have had many wonderful experiences with him. I credit these to his energy and adventurous spirit. He inspires me not to make decisions that I think will make me happy or are in my comfort zone but rather what will help me grow. The result is always better. Through the SMF, we will continue Siôn’s story and his positive impact on others.

I am a CFO/COO working within the world of investments and a trustee of the SMF. My father and I have known Siôn and his family for many years. I had the pleasure to watch Sion grow up into a fine young man, talented, friendly, and loving. As the saying goes, it is not how many years you are on the planet but what you do with them that counts. Siôn made the absolute most of his time. In his memory, the SMF will help other young adults make the most of their lives.

I am an economist and data scientist and am involved in the mentorship scheme at the SMF. Siôn and I met on our first day of lectures at UCL and remained close friends ever since. We learned to row together, planned the biggest party of the year for UCL economists and travelled around Europe throughout our studies. More recently we both lived in San Francisco, where we cycled and surfed together. What most inspired me about Siôn was his eagerness for new experiences and his natural generosity towards everyone he interacted with.

I am a Cardiff born and bred investment banker living in Paris and a trustee of the SMF. I first met Siôn at under 8s rugby, and we became thick as thieves through high school and remained so ever since! The spark in his bright blue eyes always showed a burning curiosity in the world around him. Siôn’s refusal to accept any limits on our ambitions inspired me to study at Oxford, travel the world, and work in investment banking. I truly hope the SMF will continue Siôn’s legacy by inspiring and enabling young Welsh students to pursue their dreams.

I am Siôn’s sister, a teacher in Cardiff and the safeguarding officer for the SMF. I have always been in awe of Siôn’s zest for life, the kind and caring person he was, his ambitious nature and everything that he achieved in his 27 years - more than most people achieve in their lifetime. I hope that the SMF will continue his legacy.

I am an investment banker working in London, and a mentor with the SMF. Siôn and I met whilst studying together at UCL and remained close friends since. Siôn had an incredible energy but was also a compassionate and thoughtful friend. Through the mentorship scheme I hope to share his passion for economics and finance, whilst supporting the personal development of mentees with the same care he showed everyone he met.

I am a professional cyclist and Olympic gold medallist from Rio 2016 and a trustee of SMF. I am also an ambassador for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Charity. I met Siôn at primary school and we instantly became close friends, remaining so as we grew older and set off on our chosen careers. Siôn was a huge inspiration to me and was constantly pushing me to better myself in my sporting and personal life. He would forever be saying ‘why not?’. To him, there were no limits on his friends’ ambitions no matter how big or crazy. With the SMF, we hope to continue asking ‘why not?’.

Siôn was a best friend of mine ever since we met at Primary School. He was a true inspiration and looked out for me as a brother. Siôn is one of the reasons I was convinced that moving to London to seek work was the best option after living and travelling in Australia. Feeling like a small fish in a big pond, Siôn helped and supported me to achieve the best in life. I am supporting the SMF as I want to continue Siôn’s legacy of embracing new opportunities and give young adults the confidence that, no matter what your background is, anything is possible.

I am Siôn’s cousin and a London based architect. I built and look after the website for the SMF. I always saw Siôn as more of a younger brother and would look forward to catching up over a beer in London or at an eventful family gathering. Siôn’s determination to have a good time was infectious and his ambition knew no bounds. I hope the SMF will provide young people in Wales opportunities to fulfil and exceed their ambitions just as Siôn did.

All those involved in the SMF remain very grateful to the continued support of Delyth and Brendan, Siôn’s parents.
